I was a year behind you at Xavier. I took lessons from your brother for a short time in the mid 70's. Wish now I would have applied myself more. Everytime I hear the music, I realize how great he was! We didn't talk much. Anyway, I was too much in awe of him, you know, "What's a dumb ass like me doing taking lessons from Doug Yankus?' Anyway, please contact me if you want. I would like to study his playing as much as possible as I drift into old age. Dave Weyenberg

I am overwhelmed that this is here! I have such amazing memories of SOUP. My book is titled LAYLA ~ very directly because of Rob Griffith. Thank you for keeping this alive! I am in tears!

It was a pleasure to put together the SOUP event last year (2013) and look forward to getting it together again soon. The music of Doug, Dave and Rob has to live on. I can't tell you how many SOUP CD's I hand out to people who visit my guitar shop (Studio H Guitars). The music amazes people and you know what? Doug's guitar playing still amazes me. Thanks to everyone who showed up.

Thanks so much for posting all this music and info. Soup was a huge influence on my development as a musician. Of course I had heard all the guitar greats of the day but Doug was the first one I could actually see play, up close and often, and try to get a handle on technique. He was one of the best I have ever heard, expressive, articulate, with a superb tone. Soup was the band I tried to see every chance I got - Summerfest, Hannah's, all the SW WI venues including some accessible with a fake ID. Not always successful at that. All their music still stands up today, and is far far more interesting than most current stuff by current "artists". Thanks again.

I grew up in appleton in fact was in bands myself at the time Soup was around. I was lucky enough to ride in the Soup equipment truck one time and see them play in Madison. However I saw them play a number of times in appleton . The Cinderella Ballroom was where I saw them also. Awesome band with an incredible sound . Everyone that heard them, that knew anything about music was very completely impressed. Gary Apitz

Nice to see the site. I have known Roger Jerry most of my life and he always has such great stories of these times past. Currently working with him at Camera Corner - Green Bay. Keep the messages coming, this was a great area for music!

Chris Yankus, I would personally like to thank you for the videos you have posted on you tube of your brother Doug and the members of his band Soup. I followed and attended many concerts in the late 60's and early 70's. I graduated from Premontre High School in 1972 in Green Bay. Our High School hosted several of his concerts. I also recall the Elks Club and the WBAY building in Green Bay as being a few other venues I've attended their concerts at among others. I had bought one of the original albums after a concert and sadly lent it out to classmates and never had it returned. I had been searching over the years in trying to find another to replace it with no such luck. While doing so I discovered articles and I found a few videos. I bought the CD that is available and now with you sharing your videos I can once again enjoy the music I grew up with from the band I followed the most. I admired and appreciated your Brother Doug's talent as a musician, composer, and performer. Thank you once again Chris, you have brought back many fond memories on his behalf. May I also add my condolences on your brother Doug's passing. With great appreciation, Jeff Crim

Soup was a Huge influence on both me and my music. Not only were they cool, they were simply outanding musicians. Many many memorible performance during my youth. I have two records out and can hear Their influence in my music. I have played Dance Magic Woman many times in concert Even though I play no cover songs. I tell audiances about Soup and their legacy. So glad I was a part of the Soup experience, They certainly are a part of the Joel experience..
